I recently submitted the third novel in The Anonymous Man series
to a professional literary agent. I’ll share some excerpts from her
response to that submission.
The market for fiction is fiercely competitive...the book trade
is a tough nut to crack.... Publishers are reluctant to take risks on
unrecognized talents and to capture an editor’s attention, your
submission must be outstanding.... [ Your novel is a ] well crafted
story, a rich tapestry of realism and imagination and the subject
matter is genuine, bold and painstakingly human. The original and
often thought provoking novel moves along with...propulsion and
authenticity that intrigue the reader.... The dialogue is also well
done and realistic throughout. This is not easy to do and you
evidence a talent for natural conversation.... I believe we have a
good chance of getting your novel published.... The original style
of writing is superior to what is out there today and well done....
The plot line and characterization of this manuscript are excellent
and I really think this could be a winner. I am pleased to offer a
contract for representation.
